Sulfur composite

As antimony sulfide is widely used in primer compositions, sulfur is frequently present in discharge residue particles and can occur at major, minor, or trace level (see Table 19.5). Consequently the occurrence of sulfur at major level is not an accurate indicator of the use of black powder. The particles should be considered as a group and it is clear that the frequent occurrence of both potassium and sulfur at high level is strongly indicative of black powder. However, as can be seen from Table 20.9 the use of black powder does not necessarily yield overall high levels of potassium. Potassium does not normally occur at major level in FDR particles (see Table 19.5) and its presence at major level in any of the particles suggests the use of black powder. [Pg.166]

Commercial Propane-Butane mixtures are produced to meet particular requirements such as volatility, vapor pressure, specific gravity, hydrocarbon composition, sulfur and its compounds, corrosion of copper, residues, and water content. These mixtures are used as fuels in areas and at times where low ambient temperatures are less frequently encountered. Analysis by gas chromatography is possible (ASTM D-5504, ASTM D-6228, IP 405). [Pg.70]

In Earth s crustal composition, sulfur ranks thirteenth in abundance, with an estimated concentration of 0.05 percent. Sulfur exists in elemental form, as metallic sulfides, as sulfates, and, when combined with carbon and nitrogen, in organic forms. Most of the world s sulfur resource is located in North America. It is distributed, in descending order according to share of that resource, as follows the United States and Canada have 26 percent and 22 percent, respectively, followed by Russia (11 %), Saudi Arabia (5%), Japan (5%), Poland (4%), Germany (4%), and France (2%) the remaining 21 percent is distributed in other countries. [Pg.1204]

Sulfur is a good candidate, with two of its four stable isotopes ( S and S) satisfying criterion (1), and several gaseous compounds satisfying criterion (2), notably SO2 and HaS. In a gas of solar composition, sulfur fails to satisfy criterion (3), and, in fact, NMD effects reports in meteorites are rare and very small (36). However, in the Earth s hydrogen-free atmosphere, NMD effects in sulfur, apparently due to photolysis of volcanic SO2, are well-established (57). [Pg.150]

Vulcanized polyaniline/sulfur (SPANI/S) nanostructures were investigated as cathod for Li-S batteries. In this composite, sulfur nanoparticles were physically trapped inside the polymer network and were not chemically bound to the polymer. A capacity retention rate of80.4,80.5,87.6, and 90.0% was observed at 0.1, 0.2, 0.5 and 1 C, respectively, in the SPANI/S composite with 55% S content after 200 cycles [57]. [Pg.498]

Modem CHN analysers are also equipped to determine S and O compositions. Sulfur is determined by oxidation to SO2, and oxygen by conversion to CO, then to CO2. [Pg.90]
