Organometallic complexes are known which contain a wide variety of macrocycles closely related to porphyrins corroles, porphycenes, tetraazaporphyrins. phthalocyanines, tetraazaannulenes, and porphyrinogens are the best known examples. Examples containing the first four of these macrocycles are included where there is a useful comparison or contrast with the relevant porphyrin chemistry, but the discussion will not be comprehensive. When you write a comparison or contrast essay, your opinion about the two elements in question becomes your thesis statement the body of the paper then shows why you arrived at that opinion. It has long been known that thiolate ligands (RS ), which are formally derived from thiols (RSH) by deprotonation, are well suited to form metal complexes (1).
