Colour acrylonitrile polymers

Figure 7.5 Classification result of shredded mixed electronics waste, superimposed onto a greyscale image of the waste fraction. Only objects that could be identified with a likelihood >95% have been classified. Classification colour code yellow metal, mostly aluminium red polymethyl metacry-late (PMMA) orange polyolefines (PE, PP) pink styrene polymers (PS, PS-E, etc.) violet polyamides (PA 6, PA 6.6, etc.) green acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) blue polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Coagulation of monofilaments of ternary, acrylonitrile-based copolymer in a methanol solution of DPPH produced their violet colouring, seen as stable on repeated extractions in methanol, even after the monofilament s dissolution and the polymer s reprecipitation. Obviously, it is induced by the DPPH, that had stabilised, through recombination, the primary macroradicals. [Pg.115]

The stressing of polyurethane film in alcoholic solution of DPPH, determined their coloration in red-purple, colour which is maintained after the stress removing, which demonstrates the chemical bounding of the radical acceptor to the polymer mechano-radicals. The presence of DPPH structural units on the main chain were proved by UV spectrometry. Figure 3.317, and of acrylonitrile... [Pg.158]

BASF offers a full range of natural and black ABS resins imder the Terluran trade name. Terluran Standard grades were developed specifically to meet the requirements of major customers. Terluran Standard ABS is a two-phase polymer blend. A continuous phase of styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN) gives the materials rigidity, hardness and heat resistance. The toughness of Terluran Standard is the result of microscopically fine polybutadiene rabber particles imiformly distributed in the SAN matrix. Terluran Standard has a light and very consistent natural colour. [Pg.164]
