Miscellaneous Uses. Inks used by inspectors to stamp the grade or quaUty on meat must, bylaw, be made from food-grade colors. Dyes used in packaging materials that come in direct contact with a food must also be food-grade or, if not, it must be estabUshed that no part of the colorant used migrates into the food product. Pet foods, too, if colored, must contain only those colorants recognized by the FDA as suitable for the purpose. [Pg.441]

Miscellaneous Colorants. Other colorants not requiring certification have been defined in the Code of Federal Regulations. Most of these ate of only minor to moderate importance and have only limited usage. [Pg.452]

Miscellaneous heating coil problems. These vary from system to system. They are relatively common in HW boilers, where little or no blowdown (BD) is ever provided for BW sludge to accumulate on the external fins of the copper coils, thus preventing effective heat transfer. When coil gaskets at the installation points on the top front of the boiler weep, and where the water treatment product contains a dye, color stains surround the gasket area. [Pg.176]

The magenta color reaction for parathion has been adapted to mass-production techniques for quantitative estimation of parathion residues in and on certain fruits, vegetables, and miscellaneous substrates. [Pg.72]

The magenta color reaction for parathion has been adapted to mass-production techniques for quantitative estimation of parathion residues in and on certain fruits, vegetables, and miscellaneous substrates. From examination of the mechanisms of this color reaction, and from experiences gained in running nearly 3000 analyses on 50 different substrates, it has become apparent for such applications that ... [Pg.87]

Domestic consumption of selenium in 1981 exceeded 453,000 kg. About 50% was used in electronic and copier components, 22% in glass manufacturing, 20% in chemicals and pigments, and 8% miscellaneous (Cleveland et al. 1993). In 1987, world production of selenium was about 1.4 million kg (USPHS 1996). In 1986, 46% of the global selenium produced was used in the semiconductor and photoelectric industries 27% in the glass industry to counter coloration impurities from iron 14% in pigments and 13% in medicine, in antidandruff shampoos, as catalysts in... [Pg.1581]
