Cold press moulding

Cold Press Moulding—A low pressure, low temperature process in which fibres are impregnated with a cold cure resin and then pressed between matched dies. [Pg.6]

Cold press moulding This minor process has been used with polyesters and involves a closed monld that can be locked after a fast-setting resin has been poured onto a fibrous preform. [Pg.172]

Plate 18 The window panels of this coach are made from cold-press moulded GRP. They are stiffened with both aluminium and steel formers which are bonded directly onto the panel with a toughened acrylic adhesive. Material Permabond F241. Two cab parts are moulded in dough moulding compound (DMC) - the fascia glove compartment lid and door handles. The roof and extension panels were cold-press moulded. Thus, three distinct GRP processes are used in the construction of the cab SMC, DMC, and CPM, but predominantly the former. [Pg.174]

Truck cabs are based on a standard body framework - the so-called pod. For variations of the standard model the appropriate panels are exchanged. For example, sleeper cabs consist of the standard pod with a longer roof panel and additional sleeper extension panels to make the cab interior large enough to incorporate a sleeping bench. Because of the limited number of sleeper cabs produced, the roof and extension panels are moulded by CPM (cold-press moulding), rather than by SMC, since the CPM method is ideal for low to medium volume runs. [Pg.177]
