Coco diethanolamide

The performance of AOS vs. the other surfactants was tested with three foam boosters, namely, amide oxide (AO), lauryl myristic monoethanol amide (LMMEA), and coco diethanolamide (coco DEA) at 90 10 anionic/booster ratio. Blends were evaluated at 0.025% active, 41 °C, and 140 ppm vegetable shortening oil. The results in Fig. 21 show that AOS blends outperform the reference standard whereas the other blends were of equal or less performance. The AOS/LMMEA blend gave superior performance. It was further shown that the addition of a small amount of AES (10% on total actives) further enhanced the performance of the AOS system (see Fig. 22). AOS when formulated with AES and amide therefore has outstanding dishwashing performance and is an attractive candidate for use in formulating light-duty liquids. [Pg.418]

The effect of alkanolamides (hand dishwashing liquids and shampoos) is difhcult to explain because they are, in fact, mixtures of free fatty acids, alkanolamine soaps, and fatty acid esters of the alkanolamine and of the alkanolamide. Nevertheless, it is reported that dialkanolamides are effective because of their ability to complex with the anionic, leading to stronger micellar interaction and, consequently, higher foam film viscosity as well as lowering the anionic s CMC [76]. The most often used are lauric/myristic mono-ethanolamides and coco diethanolamide. [Pg.430]

Carolei and Gutz (2005) Coco diethanolamide Shampoo FTIR-ATR... [Pg.300]

ATR-FTIR is a useful analytical tool for multicomponent analysis that employs a mathematical data-treatment process. Also, Carolei and Gutz (2005) have used this technique combined with chemometrics, to determine three surfactants and water simultaneously in shampoo and in liquid soap without either sample dilution or pretreatment. The surfactants analysed were an amphoteric one (cocoamidopropyl betaine), two nonionic ones (coco diethanolamide in shampoo and alkylpolyglucoside in liquid soap), (minor components) and an anionic one (sodium lauryl ether sulfate). Overlapping bands and water absorption were resolved by two multivariate quantification methods classical least squares (CLS) and inverse least squares (ILS) (Massart et al., 1997, 1998). The wave numbers chosen for the calculation process were preferably those of maximum absorption of the minor components. This method can be applied during the production process but not in final product analysis because of interference caused by the fragrance added in the last step (Figure 7.1.2). [Pg.302]
