Coating capacitor coatings

Electrolytic type sensors Uxt thick film techniques, e.g. capacitor coated in gl bonded on to a ceramic disc mounted on a thermoelectric (Peltier effect) cooler. Control is by a platinum resistance thermometer which adjusts the temperature of the cooler to regain equilibrium after a change in capacitance due to moisture deposit. Range depends on technique. Capable of high precision. Limitations are similar to those for AIjO) sensor. Capable of being direct mounted. Relatively cheap. Suitable for on-line use. 

The values, derived from manufacturers data sheets, are only intended to permit general comparisons to be made capacitor coatings and cases are not allowed for in estimating volumes.

The proposed appUcatirms of aerogel are numerous and vary a great deal yet most remain uiu ealized. Commercial applications such as thermal window insulatirHi, acoustic insulation, optical coatings, capacitor electrodes, low dielectric constant layers in integrated circuits, piezoelectric transducers, and catalytic supports have all been proposed, but little in the way of actual use has resulted [1, 5-11]. However, sihca aerogel monohths have been used extensively in Cerenkov radiation detectors in high-energy physics experiments [12-16].

Capacitors. The outstandingly low dielectric loss of parylenes make them superior candidates for dielectrics in high quality capacitors. Furthermore, their dielectric constant and loss remain constant over a wide temperature range. In addition, they can be easily formed as thin, pinhole-free films. Kemet Flatkaps are fabricated by coating thin aluminum foil with Parylene N on both sides and winding the coated foils in pairs (62). 

Electrically Functional. Refractory coatings are used in semiconductor devices, capacitors, resistors, magnetic tape, disk memories, superconductors, solar ceUs, and diffusion barriers to impurity contamination from the substrate to the active layer. 

Because of the ease with which they can be soldered, electroplated tin—lead coatings of near eutectic composition (62 wt % tin) are extensively used in the electronics industry for coating printed circuit boards and electrical coimectors, lead wires, capacitor and condenser cases, and chassis. 

Zinc Costing of Ca.pa.citors, In the zinc coating of paper strip for capacitors, the paper strip is fed from air through locks into a vacuum environment. There, it is coated by thermally evaporated zinc. The rate of evaporation is so high that contamination of the zinc vapor is excluded. The paper is fed at the maximum rate permitted by its own strength.
