The geomorphology in coastal plain estuaries is derived from their ancestral rivers. Consequently, many of these system are at different stages of infilling with sediments since sea level has stabilized. 

Coastal plain estuary formed by flooding of river valleys in the Pleistocene-Holocene during the last interglacial transgression, and occurs on low-relief coasts due to high sedimentation and in-filling of a river valley...
