CO2 capture and storage technology

Recently, the Canadian CO2 Capture and Storage Technology Network (CCCSJN) was established due to interest and initiatives underway for the implementation of CCS technologies and to coordinate activities undertaken by various groups and/or entities working on research, development and demonstration of national CO2 capture and storage initiatives.

The German research concept COORETEC (CO2 Reduction Technologies) investigates options for the generation of electricity from fossil fuels with CO2 capture and storage which opens access to CO2 free production of hydrogen. 

With growing concerns over climate change caused by manmade emissions, advances and additional investments may be needed to capture and store carbon dioxide produced during synthetic ultra-clean fuels production. To avoid emission of CO2 into the atmosphere, CO2 can be concentrated, captured, and permanently stored. However, capture and storage technologies are still relatively new and additional testing and development are needed to prove this technology.
