Circulatory disturbances

GI irritants are the most common toxins in Boletes, particularly in red-spored and yellow-spored species. Muscarine is present in a few species, but too low to be significant. Symptoms are nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. In more severe cases there may be muscle cramps and circulatory disturbance. Treatment is largely symptomatic, and recovery is usually complete one to two days after ingestion. 

Gelatin colloids consist of cross-Unked peptide chains obtained from collagen. They are employed for blood replacement, but not for hemodilution, in circulatory disturbances.

Interestingly, it does not show any antagonistic effect toward barbiturate or general anaesthetic depression. As a rule, the ozone-oxygen mixture is employed in cases of arterial circulatoiy disturbances. This method was first described by Dr. Lacoste in 1951 and since then has attracted the attention of many scientists. Rokitansky [207] was the first who made a statistical evaluation, according to which four out of ten patients with arterial-metabolic circulatory disturbances treated with ozone did not need operation the results of other authors confirm his conclusions [208, 209]. 

Payr [214] applied subcutaneous injection of ozone gas in cases of venous circulatory disturbances and varicosis. For the same cases, he also used intravenous injections. He also reported that Dr Fisch had tested this method on himself without side effects. 

Major autohemotherapy is applied if the artery in question is not accessible to palpation. However, in cases of milder circulatory disturbances, intramuscular and/or subcutaneous injections may be sufficient.
