Chlorated cresols

In a sample of defective wines, most in the barrel, half of them contained TCA or TeCA at clearly perceptible doses. Wines may also have defects described as earthy , weedy , wild mushrooms , wet cardboard and considerable research has centred on this. Lee and Simpson (1993) analysed them and identifieds compounds such as 2,4-dichloro-6-methylanisol, chlorated cresols, oct-l-en-3-one, oct-l-en-3-ol, d.y-octa-l,5-dien-3-one, d.y-octa-l,5-dien-3-ol, guayacol, 2-methyl-isoborneol and geosmine. Rapp (1992) also detected other substances in the corks such as 6-chlorovainilline, 4-chloro guayacol, 4,5-dichloro guayacol and veratrol. [Pg.610]

PYROSULFURIC ACID (8014-95-7) A powerful oxidizer and strong acid. Violent reae-tion when water is added to coneentrated acid. To dilute, always add aeid to water heat will be generated. Reacts with air, producing corrosive fumes. Violent reaction with reducing agents, bases, combustible materials, organic materials, acetic acid, acetic anhydride, acetonitrile, acrolein, acrylic acid, acrylonitrile, alcohols, allyl chloride, 2-amino ethanol, ammonium hydroxide, aniline, cresol, n-butyraldehyde, carbides, cast iron, chlorates, cresol, epichlorohydrin,... [Pg.1038]

A study was undertaken with a view to determine the basic mechanism of failure in series firing ability. The excitation time, transfer time and total rime of three different types of squibs (i) with LMNR as base (ii) with Lead Dimtro-ortho-cresol (LDNOC) as base and (in.) with charcoal plus potassium chlorate as base were determined... [Pg.632]
