Check planting

Re-check plant status, e.g. isolation, cleanleness, work required... 

Check plants regularly for any dead, damaged, or diseased wood. Whatever the plant, always cut this out cleanly it will help to control disease outbreaks. This is often the only pruning that trees ever require in the case of mature tall trees, it may mean consulting an arborist. 

Keeping plants growing well is the best defense against pests and diseases. Potbound plants in overcrowded pots, watered erratically, will be more prone to pests such as red spider mite and aphids, especially in hot and dry locations such as a sheltered patio. Deal with any problem as it arises check plants regularly and pick off pests or diseased shoots or leaves as you notice them. Remove sickly and badly infested plants. 

What to do Check plants regularly, especially the stems and the undersides of the leaves, for the presence of scale. Where an Infestation Is light, individual scales can be removed easily with a fingernail or a cotton swab. Pesticides Insecticidal soap plant-oil-based products. 

Flowers appeared in the autumn of 1958 on plots treated with 40, 50, and 100 p.p.m. of potassium gibberellate and petiole elongation was noted on plants sprayed with 100 p.p.m. When the plants started to bloom in the spring, more flowers opened earlier on the plants sprayed with 10 and 20 p.p.m. of potassium gibberellate than on the unsprayed check plants. Plants in all plots started to bloom at about the same time. No other effects of the sprays were noted until harvest.

Almost ubiquitously, ATP tests are employed to check plant hygiene. This includes both swab tests of vessels and pipework and liquid tests of CIP final rinse water. Typical sample locations and types are shown in Table 13.7. 

When checking plant temporary or permanent modifications, it is essential to first ensure that the changes comply with the design bases of the affected structure, system or component, and secondly, that they are correctly incorporated into the plant documents (including the operational documents) which must, at all times, be consistent with one another. 

Note that the harvesting of the low-topped tobacco had been completed by August 13, whereas two-thirds of the leaves on the check plants were still in the field on that date.
