Cone screen centrifuges

Rinse is shown only in the basket centiifuge because linse efficiency in the cone screen is faidy low compared to the basket. The latter may be selected for the apphcafion if good rinsing is needed, and the conveyor-discharge conical screen centrifuge selected if no rinsing is necessary.

The cone screen centrifuges shown schematically in Figure 1.18 all comprise a conical perforated metal screen across which wet solids slide after filtration from relatively high concentration suspension. Worm screen Also known as the conveyor discharge or screen scroll centrifuge, the worm screen centrifuge causes solids to move along the cone via an internal screw conveyor. The conveyor rotates at a differential speed to the cone screen and centrifugal forces below 2600g facilitate reasonable throughputs. The presence of the conveyor can sometimes lead to both... 

The dried fermentation residues were broken up to pass through a 6-mm screen and mixed three times by the method of cone and quarter mixing. The dried and screened HDG (-32 kg) was available for poultry-feeding trials (Table 3). The supernatant from the centrifugation step and filtrate from the filter belt were not evaporated to form concentrated syrup to be added to the dried HDG to form HDGS because of lack of pilot-scale equipment to accomplish the evaporation step.
