Screening centrifuge

Rinse is shown only in the basket centiifuge because linse efficiency in the cone screen is faidy low compared to the basket. The latter may be selected for the apphcafion if good rinsing is needed, and the conveyor-discharge conical screen centrifuge selected if no rinsing is necessary. 

In conventional chemical pulping systems, micronized talc is used for pitch control. The mechanism is not well understood, but talc does adsorb on the pitch and detackify it, preventing it from agglomerating and attaching on equipment. In de-inking talc is used both to enhance ink removal in conventional screening/centrifugation methods and as a carrier in flotation systems.

If still greater force is required, a positive pressure in excess of atmospheric can be applied to the suspension by a pump. This motive force may be in the form of compressed air introduced in a montejus, or the suspension may be directly forced through a pump acting against the filter medium (as in the case of a filter press), or centrifugal force may be used to drive the suspension through a filter medium as is done in screen centrifuges.

Scroll screen centrifuges are typically used for continuous feeds of slurries of at least 10 percent solids by volume, of materials with an average size of 100 jxm or greater. This design offers some residency to process variation and t) ically removes the bulk of surface moisture. 

An internal product wash is also available in the scroll screen centrifuges. Wash liquid is added in a chamber midway along the basket, and me wash liquid migrates through the cake prior to fin3 drying and discharge.
