A number of authors have followed the Payne suggestion that the elastic modulus decrease with increasing strain could be related to the progressive breakdown of an interaggregate network, assumed to exist in a well dispersed CB filled compound. Accordingly the higher dynamic modulus at low amplitude would result in a stiff CB network that would be destroyed as strain amplitude is rising. Such a model is however unable to explain all aspects of DSS, namely the modulus recovery that is observed when a previously strained material is left at rest for a sufficient period at the appropriate temperature. 

A sulfur donor system in NR (DTDM, 1.5 CBS, 1.5 TMTD, 0.5) yields a stable network stmcture with a contribution of 80% mono- and disulfidic cross-links at the optimum cure at 143°C or 183°C curing [13].
