Carrier oils organic

Using this definition all essential and carrier oils are organic. [Pg.125]

Sprays are the most common means of insecticide appHcation and generally involve the use of water as the principal carrier, although volatile oils sometimes are used. With the older inorganic insecticides, suspensions in water were used at dilutions of 0.1 ndash 0.2%. The development of the more effective organic insecticides has allowed the widespread use of concentrate sprays in which the toxicant is contained at 10 ndash 98% and the amount of carrier to be appHed is enormously reduced. The use of concentrate or ultralow volume sprays has brought about a revolution in spray equipment away... [Pg.301]

Environmental releases of PCBs often accompany releases of carriers from utility equipment. An example would be mineral oil released from oil filled transformers. When PCBs are present in a mineral oil-PCB mixture the aqueous solubility of the PCBs is reduced significantly. Two factors play a role in this reduction partitioning of the lipophilic (oil-loving) PCBs into the oil phase, and the reduced interaction of the PCBs with precipitation or groundwater caused by the hydrophobic nature of the oil matrix. Interpretation of aqueous PCB concentrations in the field must consider the presence of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) [382,386,397,403]. [Pg.282]

In several wood-preserving facilities, other wood preservatives such as creosote and chromate-copper—arsenate (CCA) have been used in addition to PCP (e.g., Lamar Glaser, 1994 Mueller et al., 1991a Mahaffey et al., 1991). Environmental contamination by chemical mixtures is likely in these sites. When PCP has been dissolved in an organic carrier such as oil, soil is also contaminated with the solvent (Trudell et al., 1994 Lamar Dietrich, 1990). Chlorinated dimeric impurities in technical CP formulations are also found in contaminated soil. Design of successful bioremediation must address the effects of other chemicals on CP biodegradation. [Pg.264]

The third way of coal pipelining intensification supposes using the carrier liquid different than water. Oil products (crude oil, residual fuel oil, kerosene, fuel or Diesel oil and various mineral oils) or hydrocarbons (methanol, ethanol, carbonic acid, and other liquid organic compositions) can be used as a carrier liquid. [Pg.374]
