S-Captopril (SCpt) (SQ-014534) and R-captopril (RCpt) (SQ-034459) were supplied by Bristol-Myers Squibb Pharmaceutical Research Institute (Princeton, NJ, USA). Novocaptopril tablets (25 mg S-captopril/ tablet) were supplied by Novopharma Ltd., Toronto, Canada. 2-Hydro-xy-3-trimethylammoniopropyl-/1-cyclodextrin was supplied by Wacker-Chemie GmbH (Germany). [Pg.990]

Iscan et al. compared a number of parameters of a specially formulated buccal bioadhesive captopril tablet with that of a conventional tablet. The buccal formulation provided controlled release of captopril with a smooth plasma level profile and a long duration of action however, its bioavailability was 40% via the buccal route as compared to 65% following an oral dose. This was attributed to the intestinal mucosa being more permeable than the buccal mucosa, and it was concluded that further work was required to improve its bioavailability. [Pg.1077]

Maltodextrins (dextrose equivalent (DE) 4.0-7.0, 13.0-17.0 and 16.5-19.5) are proposed as novel chiral selectors for the construction of EPMEs for S-captopril assay [36]. The EPMEs can be used reliably for the assay of S-captopril as raw material and from pharmaceutical formulations as Novocaptopril tablets, using direct potentiometry. The best response was obtained when maltodextrin with higher DE was used for the electrode s construction. The best enantioselectivity and stability in time was achieved for the lower DE maltodextrin. L-Proline was found to be the main interferent for all proposed electrodes. The surface of the electrodes can be regenerated by simply polishing, obtaining a fresh surface ready to be used in a new assay. [Pg.63]

The construction of the electrode is simple, fast and reproducible. The electrode proved to be useful for the determination of the enan-tiopurity of S-captopril—raw material as well as for the content uniformity test of Novocaptopril tablets, by direct potentiometric method.
