Canning lines

Canning lines are very similar to bottling lines except that the container is sealed with a can end, which is rolled on by a seaming machine. There are also many specific machines for special filling operations in use in beverage packing, for example, laminated cartons, foil pouches, etc. [Pg.198]

If a straight line does not result (Fig. 18-60), at least part of the explanation may be violation of the delta L law (Canning and Ran-... [Pg.1659]

Canning plant [7]. A canning company has two processing plants, one where seafood is canned and another that cans fmits. In the seafood canning plant there are three production hues, one with 60 % more capacity than each of the other two fines, expressed in cans processed per hour. This plant operates with two shifts of 8 h each. On the other hand, the fruit processing plant has two production lines of equal capacity and operates with three 8-h shifts per day. If both plants process the same amount of cans per day, what is the ratio of production between the first production fine of the seafood plant and either of the fruit productimi fines. [Pg.103]

Canning company [7]. A canning company wants to expand its product line, for which will it buy a new fruit grinder. An equipment manufacturer offers two options for machinery whose costs are presented in the following table ... [Pg.344]

If both machines are equally suitable for the production line, which one should the canning company buy Assume an annual interest rate of 10 %. [Pg.344]

The further development of this reactor line is closely linked to the applicability of natural uranium. When the last hopes regarding the suitability of beryllium as cladding material vanished about two years ago, attention was focussed upon the development of suitable zirconium alloys. Hitherto, the evaluation of irradiated test fuel elements with zirconium-copper canning has been rather encouraging, but the experience gained so far is yet too small to form the basis of... [Pg.194]

Aluminium is the most abundant metallic element in the Earth s crust. It is extracted by purifying bauxite, an impure hydrated oxide, which may be represented as AI2O3.3H2O, and the subsequent electrolytic extraction of the metal. Many of the uses of aluminium — in canning, aircraft construction, and overhead transmission lines — depend on its low density and resistance to corrosion in air and water. This resistance is a kinetic effect, caused by a coherent oxide film, which protects the underlying metal. Some of the important aluminium chemistry that we discuss is summarized in Figure 9.16. [Pg.117]
