Calendar of events

It is clear that the areas of CL and BL, from both the analytical and biochemical/biological points of view, have been the subject of various international series of symposia that have been organized since the early 1970s, and the importance of which apparently is increasing for the next decade, as can be noticed from the calendar of events published by reputed international journals. An exciting analytical future is hence to be expected.

The implementation of calendar A keeps a separate unordered vector of events for each instmctor in a hashtable, keyed by the instmctor. The calendar s internal interactions are described in the sequence diagram in Figure 3.7, with each arrow indicating an operation request. Upon receiving an addEvent request, the calendar first creates a new event object. It then looks up the event vector for the current instmctor in its hashtable, creating a new vector if none exists. The new event is added to this vector, and the hashtable is updated. The Java code for this design is shown on the next two pages.

The detail schedule should provide a calendar-based schedule of activities, tasks, and key events of the master schedule. The detail schedule should be used to track the progress of the technical effort. Detail schedule data should be used to construct a network of events, tasks, and activities to determine the critical path of the engineering efforts and to analyze variances to schedule. 

If an event condition rather than the time instant of an event is known, the event is commonly denoted as a state event. The event condition is specified by a function of continuous variables and a state event occurs when the function crosses zero. If the time instant of a discrete event is known in advance, the event is called a time event. In that case, the event can be scheduled to happen by entering its time and its type into a calendar of forthcoming events. 

The results are expressed in terms of events per calendar year to measure the annual average fuel damage frequency, and, as such, include an estimate of the fraction of time in a year that the plant is in different configurations. Failure frequency The number of failures that occur divided by either the total elapsed calendar time during which these events occur or by the total number of demands, as applicable. 

Our seminar scheduling application will have many classes in its implementation. One likely class is a calendar that tracks various scheduled events for various instructors. We start with two different Java implementations of the calendar. Then we show how the external behaviors can be specified independent of implementation choices and even of implementation language and technology. We will ignore any UI aspects. 

Figure 3.7 and Figure 3.8 show that the internal representation and interactions differ widely between the implementations. Our behavior specification must abstract these irrelevant internal interactions and include only interactions with objects that the client should be aware of.6 What we really want to specify is the calendar together with some abstraction of its (hidden) event container, hashtable, vector, and so on (see Figure 3.9).
