Furthermore, infection of adult rat myocytes with adenoviral vectors containing either wild-type or L39stop PLN cDNAs indicated that wild type PLN decreased the contractile parameters and calcium kinetics, compared to control cells infected with an adenovirus expression GFP. Clinical protocols are designed to maximize the amount of data that can be obtained in a particular study while minimizing the risk to the subject. The situation is complicated since our major interests are the investigation of calcium kinetics in children. The protocol must be designed to be benign yet give the required kinetic dat Because the subjects are minors informed parental consent must be obtained in addition to the assent of the subject. 

Results of isotope ratio measurements from an earlier study that used a similar protocol to the one just described are shown in Figure 3. These curves show plasma Isotope levels for both the i.v.oral tracer, labelled as PTA and CTA respectively. It is generally accepted that isotopic enrichment, atom percent excess, of urine reflects that of plasma, and after the initial period of rapid mixing, urinary atom percent excess is used in lieu of plasma measurements. The curves drawn through the data are those generated using the proposed model for calcium kinetics.
