One of the most important roles of a process employee is to carry out safety, health, and environmental (SH E) functions. Historically, safety had been regarded as a minor priority, but in today s business environment, safety must be managed just like any other business function. Managers recognize that a safe worker is productive worker. Better safety records translate into real dollar savings in terms of lower insurance premiums and lower workman compensation costs. [Pg.13]

Networking is a typical solution employed to help companies of different sizes manage in fast changing business environments. It is typical for employees from several companies, entrepreneurs and independent workers to work simultaneously in the same workplace. The Ethics Resource Center s 2007 national business ethics survey results showed that within the corporate environment, 56% of employees have observed misconduct 36% fear retaliation and 54% are skeptical that a report would matter (Ethics Resource Center, 2007).
