One of the most important roles of a process employee is to carry out safety, health, and environmental (SH E) functions. Historically, safety had been regarded as a minor priority, but in today s business environment, safety must be managed just like any other business function. Managers recognize that a safe worker is productive worker. Better safety records translate into real dollar savings in terms of lower insurance premiums and lower workman compensation costs. 

Networking is a typical solution employed to help companies of different sizes manage in fast changing business environments. It is typical for employees from several companies, entrepreneurs and independent workers to work simultaneously in the same workplace. There has been a growing trend for principal companies to focus on their own special core business. This has led to the outsourcing of some of their usual work practices, mainly support processes. As a result, the number of shared workplaces (i.e. multiemployer worksite, shared worksite) is increasing. 

The systematic application of management policies, procedures, and practices to the tasks of analyzing, assessing, and controlling risk in order to protect employees, the general public, and the environment, as well as company assets, while avoiding business interruptions... 

Corporate responsibility auditing can also identify how capital has been allocated across departments and business units of the company and the level and types of risks to which the capital is exposed. An experienced audit team will advise on whether risks in one part of the company may exacerbate or ameliorate those in another and, in consultation with employees and managers, recommend process improvements, which the audit will undoubtedly yield, where risks are too high. This information can provide management with a clearer understanding of acceptable tolerance levels for key value drivers, and reliable data with which to respond proactively to shifts in the work environment, key markets, and in society. 

A survey of Rutgers University students found that in graduate school, a significant number of students admitted to cheating (MBAs 56%, engineering 54%, education 48%, and law 45%). The Ethics Resource Center s 2007 national business ethics survey results showed that within the corporate environment, 56% of employees have observed misconduct 36% fear retaliation and 54% are skeptical that a report would matter (Ethics Resource Center, 2007). Management may not be aware of misconduct, since 42% of employees who observe misconduct do not report it. 

Management has a responsibility to the shareholders of the business, the anployees, and the environment in which the organization operates. It has financial, moral, and legal responsibilities, and the safety of employees, plant, equipment, and environment is part of this responsibility. 

Based on this example, one should see how important an accountability management system is for a sports club (plant environment), and the purposes of a good management system in the organization. Reputation and public approval are strong motivators for all team members and companies. As we discussed, if we take this team concept (employee participation) and apply it to an organization, we find that business consists of managers, supervisors, and leaders (coaches) and the employees (the players). Employees on the team have their own areas of responsibility. Unfortunately, in business these areas are not always clearly defined as...
