Business Associate Defined. In general, a business associate is a person or organization, other than a member of a covered entity s workforce, that performs certain functions or activities on behalf of, or provides certain services to, a covered entity that involve the use or disclosure of individually identifiable health information.

There has been an attempt in the bill to recognize the disabilities, the extra burdens, on the small inventor in that there is a provision which says that for an individual inventor, or those who meet the definition of a small business as defined in our laws, there is an upper limit on the filing and issuance fees of the patent. The chemical business rules of a compound registration solution define the individual identities of chemical structure representations in order to meaningfully assign a unique corporate ID to each unique structure.
