Because of their nature, encyclopedias are never comprehensive nor up to date, and this one is no exception. For the best overview of the reserves and production of natural gas and almost all other fuels it is best to consult the specialized literature. Two particularly valuable resources are the Oil Gas Journal and the annual BP Statistical Review of World Energy, currently available in the internet at http //www.bp.com and also available in hard copy as far back as 1951. These and other publications from the International Energy Agency (lEA), the European Union, and other sources, provide a detailed, up-to-date picture of the energy balance for all fuels, on a country-by-country, and year-by-year basis. [Pg.1866]

The author wishes to thank BP p.l.c. for granting permission to reproduce figures and data from the BP Statistical Review of World Energy, and Shell for granting permission to reproduce a photographic view of the reactor section of their GTL unit in Bintulu, Malaysia. [Pg.1877]
