The University of Idaho and USFWS, with funds from the Bonneville Power Administration, are also gathering data for registration of erythromycin. Erythromycin is intended for control of bacterial kidney disease in salmonid fingerlings that can also be transmitted by broodstock to the eggs (9). If research is completed on schedule and data indicate that the compound is safe and effective, registration is scheduled for 1994 (see Antibiotics, MACROLIDES). 

The Bonneville Project Act creates the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), which markets electricity generated at Federal hydro projects to the northwestern United States it also owns the nation s largest network of long-distance, high-voltage transmission lines needed to bring hydropower to market. 

Both the quantity and price of utilities are also important. This is especially true for electrochemical plants. Traditionally the Gulf Coast states and those regions covered by the Tennessee Valley Authority and Bonneville Power Administration (Northwest) have had the cheapest power. Now some large nuclear power plants that are being installed offer the promise of cheap power to other regions.

IdaTech LLC (formerly Northwest Power Systems), of Bend, Oregon, an Idacorp subsidiary, delivered the first of 110 planned fuel cell systems to the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), Portland, Oregon in June 2000. The BPA program is part of a fuel cell test and development phase intended to commercialize fuel cell systems for home and small commercial applications by 2003.

About all anyone had to show for the limited research effort was a prototype built by the Los Alamos National Laboratory for the Bonneville Power Administration in Portland, Oregon. The big test magnet, relying on the old helium-cooled superconductors, went on line in Tacoma, Washington, in 1984, and ran for months, storing enough electricity to power a house for about a week. It was a good newspaper story, but little else.

Federal Power Marketing Administrations (PMA) - These are separate and distinct organizational agencies within the U.S. DOE that market power at federal multipurpose water projects at lowest possible rates to consumers consistent with sound business principles. Institutional Issues—This section describes unique issues directed at future land use and means of dispositioning facilities owned by the Supply System, and the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) that are built on land leased from DOE. 

Emerald People s Utility District (EPUD) worked with Lane Country, Oregon and a private investment company to develop a 3.4 MW plant at the Short Mountain landfill. The plant operates at over 97% capacity and provides a profit to EPUD as well as royalty income to the County. First, this book will illustrate a transient on a single-phase line from a physical viewpoint, and how it can be solved analytically by an electric circuit theory. The impedance and admittance formulas of an overhead line will also be described. Approximate formulas that can be computed using a pocket calculator will be explained to show that a transient can be analytically evaluated via hand calculation. Since a real power line contains three phases, a theory to deal with a multiphase line will be developed. Finally, the book describes how to tackle a real transient in a power system. A computer simulation tool is necessary for this— specifically the well-known simulation tool Electro Magnetic Transients Program (EMTP), originally developed by the U.S. Department of Energy, Bonneville Power Administration— which is briefly explained in Chapter 1. 

Akihiro Ametani earned his PhD from the University of Manchester (UMIST), Manchester, UK, in 1973. He was with the UMIST from 1971 to 1974, and with Bonneville Power Administration for summers from 1976 to 1981, and developed the EMTP (Electro-Magnetic Transients Program). Since 1985, he has been a professor at Doshisha University, Kyoto, Japan. In 1988, he was a visiting professor at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. From April 1996 to March 1998, he was the director of the Science and Engineering Institute, Doshisha University, and dean of the Library and Computer/Information Center from April 1998 to March 2001. He was chairperson of the Doshisha Council until March 2014.
