Bioluminescence imaging applications

Bioluminescence imaging of luciferase reporter genes is much more sensitive for in vivo imaging applications due to the lack of background bioluminescence signal [38]. Luciferases are photoenzymes isolated from a wide variety of insects. 

We were fortunate to have oral and poster presentations given by scientists from 19 countries, as well as active participation from industrial exhibitors. The sessions included luciferase-based bioluminescence, photoprotein-based bioluminescence, fundamental aspects and applications of chemiluminescence, luminescence imaging, fluorescence quantum dots and other inorganic fluorescent materials, phosphorescence and ultraweak luminescence, instrumentation and new methods.

BRET has been used for a variety of applications such as protein-protein interactions, drug screening, sensing, and biomedical imaging [4—6].
