When animals develop visible tumors at the site of cell implantation, approximately 12 days after cell implantation, obtain bioluminescence images of the animals in the ventral position using the IVIS system (Fig. 14.2A). Remove outlier animals with tumors larger or smaller compared to the majority of mice and randomize the remaining mice by bioluminescence intensity into one of the following two i.p.

Twenty-four hours after the last in vivo bioluminescence imaging, inject the animals i.p. with 150 mg/kg D-luciferin and euthanize them 2 min later.
