Biofuels Derived from Renewable Feedstocks

Other interesting and growing enviromnentally friendly indnstries which ACOMP may be applied to are biofuels and green polymers made from renewable feedstocks such as ethanol-derived ethylene and other processes. ACOMP may eventnaUy be nsed to monitor fermentation processes to gange conversion of biomass to the active biofuel or chemical feedstock. This is a completely novel and untested application for the technology, but could be of substantial commercial and enviromnental benefit. 

The sky-rocketing crude oil prices in recent years and the continuous exploitation of fossil fuels demand that we make serious efforts toward sustainable biofuel and bioenergy production. Renewable energy derived from plant-based feedstocks, organic residues, and biowastes is expected to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance the rural economy (Schmer et al., 2008).
