Bibliography of monographs and reviews

As this chapter will be concerned primarily with the basic mechanisms of action of chelating agents, the reader interested in experimental and clinical details is referred to the comprehensive monographs and reviews of Brugsch Catsch and Chenoweth which also include exhaustive bibliographies. 

Myriads of reductions reported in the literature have been surveyed in countless review articles and a respectable ro y of monographs, most of which are listed in the bibliography at the end of this book. With the exception of two volumes on reduction in Houben-Weyl s Methoden der Organischen Chemie, the majority of the monographs deal mainly with catalytic hydrogenation, reductions with hydrides and reductions with metals. 

Current and future volumes in the Series include both single-authored and multi-authored research monographs and reference level works as well as edited collections of themed reviews and articles. They all contain comprehensive bibliographies. 

Many publications on oceanography of the Black Sea, numbering several thousands of sources, are systematized in reviews, monographs and special bibliographies, in particular in Black Sea bibliography (1974-1994). 

Many chemical patent references are to be found in books, which in turn are usually readily located through bibliographies, publishers catalogs, or abstracts of book reviews. Many of the American Chemical Society monographs contain abundant patent references. The following list is illustrative of the variety that is available both as to breadth of field and the scope within the field. 

It is impossible, in a chapter as short as this, to do justice to the work done by the vast number of researchers who have worked on crown and lariat ethers. A snrvey of the literature indicates that almost 15000 papers have been written about these compounds since their inception to the present day. Numerous excellent reviews and several monographs as well as chapters in other works are available. Some of these key sources are given in the bibliography, which covers general aspects of crown and lariat ether chemistry, their syntheses, and data relating to the complexes that they form. 

The hardcover version contains a complete and up-to-date annotated bibliography of textbooks, monographs, serial publications and review articles. This version will be indispensable to the advanced student and research worker in the field. 

Two excellent reviews, one by Hinman and the other by Weeks, which discuss the biochemical and the pharmacological aspects respectively of PG s have appeared, and each of them provides a full bibliography of specialized reviews and papers published before early 1972. Horton has published a monograph on PG s, and two further reviews have appeared on the pharmacological effects of PG s. Several reviews discuss largely the distribution, biological action, etc of the PG s. ...
