In addition to the standard types of V belts (see Figure 3-19), many manufacturers make V belts that arc specifically designed to have a higher horsepower capacity. 4 hese V belts are shown and compared to standard V-belt cross-sections. These superpower V belts allow shorter center distances and narrow er sheaves without imposing any extra total bearing stresses. Such belts are able to reduce the drive by 30-. )0% and less for horsepow er capacity. In addition, speeds can be increased up to 6000 ft/ min without dynamic balancing of the sheaves because the sheaves arc smaller. 

Belt-drive fault frequencies are the frequencies of the driver, the driven unit, and the belt. In particular, frequencies at 1X the respective shaft speeds indicate faults with the balance, concentricity, and alignment of the sheaves. The belt frequency and its harmonics indicate problems with the belt. Table 44.1 summarizes the symptoms and causes of belt-drive failures, as well as corrective actions. 

A uniform deposit of analyte(s) on the belt is required and it is possible to do this with a range of mobile phases and flow rates by a very careful balancing of the rate of solvent deposition, the speed at which the belt moves and the amount of heat supplied by the infrared evaporator. 

In tire tests, therefore, a stiffer tire construction reduces the wear. The stiffer construction not only includes the carcass and belt (i.e., height to width ratio), but also the tread pattern and the stiffness of the tread compound. Therefore, a correct road test requires two identical vehicles, each equipped with a test group of four identical tires. If this is not possible at least one axle has to have identical tires. If this is not the case an average slip will balance the acting force on the axle. This will be larger for the stiffer tire than is required if both tires had the same stiffness and smaller for the softer tire. Hence, the result is falsified to the advantage of the softer tire. The same argument holds for multi-section tires. 

Due to its balance of strength, oil resistance, inflammability, increased resistance to ozone, ageing and weathering, polychloroprene finds widespread industrial use. Typical uses are V-belts, conveyor belts, wire and cable jacketing, footwear, wet suit applications, coated fabrics, inflatables, hoses, extrusions and many other goods. Adhesives are also a strong market area. 

The Broad-Leaved Forest ecosystems are widespread in regions of Sub-Boreal climate zone with a well balanced precipitationrevapotranspiration ratio. The southern periphery of the vast belt of Eurasian boreal and Sub-Boreal Forest ecosystems is represented by Oak Forest ecosystems. These ecosystems exhibit both the largest biomass and annual NPP rates in comparison with other forest ecosystems of this zone. However, the dead mass surface organic matter is 2-3 time less than that of coniferous forests.

Fan motors should be sized at 25% above the brake horsepower. Fans should be belt driven with variable pitch drives up to and including 25 FIP and fixed pitch drives at about 25 FIP. Fans must be radial and they must be balanced (static and dynamic) and mounted on anti-vibration supports. The connection of the fan outlet to the inside panels must be done by means of an internal flexible connector. 

Drying with Changing Humidity of Air in a Tunnel Dryer A granular material deposited on trays or a belt is moved through a tunnel dryer countercurrently to air that is maintained at 170°F with steam-heated tubes. The stock enters at 14001bdry/hr with W = 1.16 lb/lb and leaves with O.llb/lb. PVC-U formulations have low flammability due to the chlorine content. The addition of plasticiser in PVC-P formulations necessitates the use of flame retardant and smoke suppressant additives. These additives are known as functional fillers and a correct balance is necessary to achieve all the end-use specification requirements. They are predominately used in cable, conveyer belting and roofing membrane formulations to give resistance to fire initiation and propagation. It is also important to reduce dripping in a fire situation and that as little smoke as possible is generated. Antimony trioxide has been used extensively, usually in combination with phosphate ester plasticisers, giving excellent fire performance and mechanical properties.
