Non-REM parasomnias usually do not require treatment. If needed, low-dose benzodiazepines such as clonazepam can be prescribed for bothersome episodes. Clonazepam reduces the amount of sleep time spent in stages 3 and 4 of non-REM sleep, where most non-REM parasomnias occur. For treating RBD, clonazepam 0.5 to 2 mg at bedtime is the drug of choice, although melatonin 3 to 12 mg at bedtime also may be effective. Patients with RBD also should have dangerous objects removed from the bedroom and cushions placed on the floor to reduce the chance of injury from breakthrough episodes.

Average radon concentrations in the selected housing units will be measured over a 12-month period using alpha-track detectors. These detectors will be placed in general living areas of the houses, usually a living room, family room, or bedroom. Duplicate detectors will be deployed in 5 to 10 percent of the houses for aulity control purposes. 

In total, 1500 houses were investigated. In each dwelling, measurements were performed in the living room and in cne of the bedrooms. All measurements were performed during the heating season. 

At the 1980-82 study two instruments were placed in each dwelling for two weeks, one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The dwellings were inspected, the gamma radiation was measured and the participants were asked to answer a questionnaire. The inhabitants were asked to live as usual. 

A survey of the radon concentrations in a representative sample of more than 2000 dwellings in the UK has been completed and provisional results are now available. On average, concentrations are 29% lower in bedrooms than in living areas. The mean radon concentration weighted for room occupancy is 22 Bq m 3. Assuming an equilibrium factor of 0.35 and a mean occupancy of 75%, the mean annual exposure in UK homes is assessed as 0.08 Working Level Months (WLM) and the mean annual effective dose equivalent as 0.43 mSv. 

This value of 0.43 mSv for the average annual effective dose equivalent for the UK as a whole is somewhat lower than the currently used value of 0.70 mSv (Roberts and Hughes, 1984). The difference arises partly from taking into account the lower exposure in bedrooms revealed in the national survey. Another reason is that no allowance is made in this survey (Table 2) for exposure received during the 15% of the time spent indoors at other locations nor while in the open. 

Detectors were usually attached to the wall of the living room of the house or apartment in an inconspicuous location about 180 cm from the floor and left for ten months in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but collected every four months in Misasa and Mihama. Measurements were made in living rooms on the first (ground) floor, and in bedrooms on higher floors. 

Simultaneous measurements of the radon daughter concentrations, the ventilation rate and the size distribution of the inactive aerosol have been performed in two bedrooms, a living room and a cellar. The measured radon daughter concentrations were fitted by the room model to optimize the deposition rate of the unattached daughters. The mean value was 18/h in the rooms and 8/h in the cellar. 

Then they searched the upstairs. In one bedroom they found the equivalent of 15,000 in marks. In the basement they found nothing. 

COz sensors are suitable for living rooms, offices and bedrooms, whereas for bathrooms (main parameter humidity) and kitchens (main parameter smell ) other non-specific sensors may be used. Therefore combinations of different sensors like humidity sensors, smelF-sensors (unspecific VOC-sensors) and presence sensors could be the best solution. A simple movement detector with an additional manual override (ventilation on/off for a predetermined time) could be a low-cost alternative.
