Basic Safety Precautions

The hazards and risks associated with electricity were described in Chapter 1, and the types of electrical accidents that occur were covered in Chapter 2. The aim of this chapter is to introduce the principles of the most common precautions that are available to prevent accidents. It is useful to have an appreciation of the techniques before the legal requirements for electrical safety are addressed, although the techniques will be described in more detail in later chapters in relation to particular applications and to the relevant standards. [Pg.33]


Where a company suspects that the product is to be used in a way that is not safe for patients, its duty to those patients may involve warning the doctor that it considers the proposed use to be hazardous and, if necessary, refusing or terminating supply.
