A + A). These excited complexes may be emissive (A A + hv) and/or reactive (A + B). Chemical transformations which accompany the ac electrolysis do not only proceed via excited states. As an important alternative the reduced or oxidized compounds can undergo a facile chemical change (A- B- or A+ B+). Back electron transfer merely restores the original charges (A+ + B - -A + B or A- + B+ A + B). This mechanism and the ac electrolysis which proceeds via the generation of excited states are not unrelated processes. Hence the photoreaction and the ac electrolysis can lead to the same product irrespective of the intimate mechanism of the electrolysis. However, it is also possible that photolysis and electrolysis generate different products. Examples of ac electrolyses proceeding by these different mechanisms are discussed. [Pg.120]

Chemical heat pump uses chemical reaction for thermal energy storage and conversion. The heat pump operation is based on reaction equilibrium relationship, and has two operation modes. Figure 221 shows equilibrium relationship of chemical heat pump cycle for Mg0/H20 system at (a) heat amplification and cooling mode and (b) heat transformation mode [26], Figure 222 shows... [Pg.383]

Chander Mohan was born in 1975 at Dhariwal, Punjab, India. He received his B.Pharm. and M.Tech.(Pharm.) in bulk drugs from Guru Nanak Dev University and the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali. After that he worked as senior chemist at Dr. Reddy s Research Foundation, Hyderabad. He then joined Professor M. P. Mahajan s research group in 2002 for his doctoral studies. His research is focused on the synthesis and chemical transformation of C-5/C-6-substituted pyrimidinones. His research interests include synthesis of medicinally important molecules, transition metal-induced transformations in organic synthesis, reaction mechanism and total synthesis of natural products. [Pg.326]

Acyclic boryloxyalkylphosphines with tricoordinated phosphorus and boron are capable of forming cyclic betaine structures with four-coordinated P and B atoms. The ability to be converted into a more stable four-coordinated state accounts for many chemical transformations of boryloxyalkylphosphines. Diphenylboryloxymethyl(methyl) phenylphosphine (92) readily disproportionates to give 1,3,2,5-dioxabora-taphosphoniarinane (103). [Eq. (60)] (83IZV2541). Similar interaction is... [Pg.86]

Chemical Dating is a central issue in the papers of Walker [b,e], Hare [d], and Friedman and Trembour [f]. In all of these papers chemical transformations (reaction, excitation) must be considered directly in order to interpret a "date". Brief extracts from the papers follow. [Pg.486]

If for an oxidation step, the chemical reaction of B leads to the oxidized form of the second redox couple B (and not the reduced one as in the earlier case) and a second chemical transformation from A leads back to A [reaction (14)], we arrive at a square scheme (Figure 11), which forms the basis for many important redox systems [18, 58]. Again SET steps... [Pg.17]

Recently, another example of a DNA-aptamer that was selected for binding to a small molecule and that was found to accelerate weakly a chemical transformation was reported [ 100]. These aptamers selected to bind to the fluorophor sulforhodamine B with high affinity were also capable of promoting the oxidation of a related molecule, dihydrotetramethyl rosamine, albeit with low efficiency. [Pg.111]
