Ashby features

Ashby and Tennant (1988) have identified this chemical as showing structural features predictive of genotoxicity. No genotoxic effects were seen in three different assays, but the data-set is inadequate to allow firm conclusions.

Inclusions with negligible strain fields. Small inclusions which have a negligible strain field can be made visible by several mechanisms. Some contrast may arise simply because these features influence the normal absorption. However, they are usually revealed either by structure factor contrast (Ashby and Brown 1963b) or by phase contrast (Charai and Boulesteix 1983) mechanisms. These will now be discussed.

Most published literature analyzed the elastic modulus of silica aerogels by drawing inspiration from the cellular solids models. For example, Ashby and Gibson (1997) describe the open cellular foam model compressive modulus to follow power law dependence on the relative density as shown in Eq. (5.1) where C and /i are geometric constants that depend on the topological features and microstructure undergoing cell wall bending as the dominant deformation. 

The heterolytic cleavage of H2 seems to be typical of these Ru(II) hydrogenation catalysts. Another common feature is interference from untreated Pyrex glassware. Ashby and Halpem used quartz, while stainless steel and teflon-coated Pyrex vessels often are used now.
