Areas Ecology

The environmental state in the area, ecological as well as economic... 

In the case of development projects which are on a large scale (e.g. mining or dam construction) or which cover a considerable area, ecological planning attempts to achieve integration between the project and the ecosystem. The object is to ensure not only the continued functioning of the ecosystem as a whole but also of those elements of the ecosystem which provide the development project with goods and services (e.g. fuel, raw materials and the assimilation of waste).

If we turn to the physical components, they too share this kind of constant motion in relation to one another earthmovers and drills were really important at first, but once the footers are set, their roles recede as the cranes move in. So the once simple site has now become a beehive of activity, and it is not clear what the context of the project is because there is no single, simple context. Consider who and what is involved in this particular engineering project. We began with the site, but the site can t be the context, because the site is in a location, a place, which may or may not be a simple geographical location. But no geographical location is simple. The methods and means for ecological diagnostics make rapid strides among all the NDT and TD developing areas. To provide the atmosphere monitoring recently the good results were achieved in the development of surface-acoustics wave sensors (SAW), laser measuring systems, infrared detectors and systems based on other physical principles. 

The other area of ecological diagnostic interests is the water, water basins and ice condition monitoring. 

It will also be important to understand the rhizosphere ecology around the roots of metal accumulating plants fully. Maximizing the bioavailabihty of the contaminant metals in this zone may require the optimization of the microbial communities, or perhaps the addition of soil amendments. There are early indications that such intervention may be beneficial (88), but research in this area is at a very early stage.

Air Quality Related Value (AQRV) a resource, as identified by the ELM for one or more Federal areas, that may be adversely affected by a change in air quality. The resource may include visibility or a specific scenic, cultural, physical, biological, ecological, or recreational resource identified by the ELM for a particular area. "These values include visibility and those scenic, cultural, biological, and recreation resources of an area that are affected by air quality" (43 Fed. Reg. 15016).
