Area reduction

I ransformation affects a change of area and/or the form of the cross-section. If the transformation is continuous, then an area reduction is termed convergent and an area increase is termed divergent. If the transformation is abrupt, then an area reduction is termed an abrupt contraction and an area increase is termed an abrupt enlargement. [Pg.1432]
