In 1879 (Congress appropriated funds for the establishment of a powder depot near New York. Major F.H. Parker of the Ordnance Department inspected nine possible ates within 100 miles of Manhattan. On the basis of those attributes already mentioned, the Picatinny Valley site was chosen. On September 6, 1880, the War Department purchased 1866 acres in the valley for 62,750. The Secretary of War designated the reservation as the Dover Powder Depot. Four days later he issued an order changing the name to the Picatinny Powder Depot. Six days later, on September 16,1880, Major Parker was named the first Commanding Officer. In June 1883, the name was again changed to the U.S. Powder Depot... 

If a steam bottoming cycle is appropriate, many design decisions need to be made, including the selection of the turbine cycle (reheat or non-reheat) and the operating conditions. Usually, steam turbines below 100 MW are non-reheat, while turbines above 150 MW are reheat turbines. This generalization is subject to a few exceptions. In fact, a small (83 MW) modem reheat steam turbine went into operation (June 1990) as a part of a gas turbine combined cycle repowering (43). 

The Yellow Card Scheme was soon beginning to pay dividends. In early 1966, the YeUow Card Scheme had identified methyldopa as a cause of haemolytic anaemia and an appropriate advice was issued. Another success was the detection of a faulty batch of a particular product, which the manufacturer immediately withdrew, underlining the value of an efficient procedure for tracing a batch. During June 1967, the Committee distributed a leaflet on the use of aerosols in asthma. This was prompted by the death rate amongst asthmatic patients aged 5 to 34 years that had risen some 300% above the level in 1959-60 when such preparations were introduced. By September 1968, the rate had dropped to only 50% above that seen in 1959-60 despite sales having dropped only 20%. 

In the European Union, a very comprehensive initiative with the aim to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the hazards of chemicals, and to enhance the competitiveness of the EU s chemical industry, is under way. It is referred to as REACIT, which stands for Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals. REACFf places greater responsibility on industry to manage the risk of chemicals and provide appropriate safety information to professional users and, as far as the most hazardous substances, to consumers. New substances need to be registered before they are placed on the market. REACH came in force on June 1, 2007, with a phased implementation over the next decade. There is no doubt that it will affect the UV/EB industry. 

The study design is dependent on the nature of the active drug. The bioequivalence study can be a comparative skin blanching study as in glucocorticoids (FDA, Topical Dermatological Corticosteroids In Vivo Bioequivalence, June 2,1995.) or a comparative clinical trial or any other appropriate vahdated bioequivalence study (e.g., dermatopharmacokinetic study) for the topical dermatological drug product.

Apparently because of the failure of the MPG to respond to the intercession of I. Bubis (see above), on June 22, 1993, the Zentralrat der Juden in Deutschland (Central Council of Jews in Germany) felt it necessary to notify the President of the MPG that he was expected to take appropriate measures to restrict the activities of Report researcher Germar Rudolf. On July 14, 1993, the President of the MPG informed the Central Council that the MPG had no further responsibility for the activities of Herr Rudolf, since he had been fired. 

The new field of molecular diversity raises three issues which need to be addressed by the organic analytical chemistry community (i) What tools can we use for following solid-phase reactions (ii) How can we analyze all these samples (iii) How much characterization of libraries is possible or appropriate This chapter deals with these problems and reviews the literature since a similar review written in June 1995 [2] (earlier seminal publications are described where appropriate). Other analytical issues such as decoding of combinatorial libraries or the applications of affinity separations and single-bead mass spectrometry for library deconvolution are dealt with in other chapters of this book. 

The second draft was issued in June of 1993. This draft added statements such as, "With liquid products it may be appropriate to only test in the original container" and "Certain products such as infusion liquids may require specific testing to underwrite their light stability in-use."... 

After a decade, it seems appropriate to begin this report by identifying the key advances in applications and in theory over the past decade before turning to the primary purpose of this present report which is to review the literature for the period June, 2005, to May, 2007. 

The Council directive concerning the quality required of surface water intended for the abstraction of drinking-water in the Member States 75/440/EEC of 16 June 1975 lays down mandatory levels of phenols, dissolved or emulsified hydrocarbons, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, total pesticides (parathion, BHC, dieldrin) which the treated waters must reach after application of the appropriate treatment.
