Antimony bloom

Valcnliviie, Sb.203 the rhombic form of the oxide of antimony, which is also known as white antimony or antimony bloom. It contains 83 4 per cent, of antimony, and 16-6 of oxygen. [Pg.46]

Trace metal adsorption on goethite is reportedly increased by the presence of sulphate ions (Balistrieri and Murray, 1982). Arsenate and antimony oxyanions enhance uptake of cobalt on ferrihydrite and hematite, respectively (Benjamin and Bloom,... [Pg.291]

Apte, S.C., Howard, A.G., Morris, R.J. and McCartney, M.J. (1986) Arsenic, antimony and selenium speciation during a spring phytoplankton bloom in a closed experimental ecosystem. Mar. Client., 20, 119-130. [Pg.432]

During the 1970-1980s, a mixture of ammonium fluoroborate and antimony oxide was offered on the market. This mixture was used in polypropylene with dechlorane (a chlorine source) to achieve V-0. In the absence of added halogen source, the mixture can also achieve V-0 and a LOI of 33% in PP at a loading of about 37.5%. It was claimed that the mixture can be easily dispersed, has excellent UV stability, and is non-blooming, nonvolatile, and odorless. However, its water absorption in high humidity areas was a deficiency of this additive. [Pg.229]

FR-720, TBBA bis(2,3-dibromo)propyl ether, offers an efficient combination of aliphatic and aromatic bromine to meet UL94 V-2 with very low bromine content in HIPS and PP. It contains 68% of bromine. It is widely used for water discharge pipe to pass B1 class in DIN4102, and as lamp sockets to V-2 and V-0 under UL94. This melt blendable FR has optimal thermal stability but has a tendency to bloom in PP. 3-5 phr are required for V-2 with 1-1.5 phr of antimony trioxide and 14-18 phr for V-0 with 5-7 phr of antimony trioxide. [Pg.26]

Gloger and Hurley (1973) record a mnnber of synonymous terms for antimony oxide whites, including antimony oxide, a. white, a. pigment, a. bloom, a. sesquioxide, antimonious oxide and flowers of antimony. Related trade names include Tunonox and Oncor. [Pg.18]
