Antigens infectious mononucleosis

Immunocytochemical methods were developed to detect specific antibodies in sera from patients affected by different infectious diseases. P3-HR1 cells, which express Epstein-Barr-virus-induced virus capsid antigens (VCA), were used to search for specific human IgM (class M immunoglobulins) to VCA in infectious mononucleosis patients. After treatment of cells with serial dilutions of sera, HRP-conjugated anti-IgM antibody was added and detected with CL substrate [25],... [Pg.490]

A growing application of the strip type of technology for immunoassay is for infectious disease testing and the rapid detection of various infectious antigens and antibodies including Chlamydia, group A streptococci, " Helicobacter pylori, ° infectious mononucleosis, and human immunodeficiency virus. These tests commonly use a lateral-flow format for urine, serum, plasma, or whole blood samples in conjunction with analytical techniques, such as enzyme immunoassay and immunochromatography. An alternative... [Pg.304]

The principal glycoproteins of equine and porcine erythrocyte membranes have been examined. The principal equine glycoprotein (mol. wt. 3.3 x 10 ), which contains 53.8% carbohydrate, is associated with the activity of the infectious mononucleosis heterophile antigen. Two principal groups of porcine glycoproteins were isolated one (mol. wt. 4.62 x 10 ) contains 65.8% carbohydrate, and the other (mol. wt. 2.9 x 10 ) contains 49.6% carbohydrate. They differ in activity towards the lectin from Phaseolus vulgaris. [Pg.318]
