Piston pumps are reliable and durable but are usually higher in cost than other pumps. Examples of piston pump types include radial piston pumps, axial piston pumps, swash plate in-line piston pumps, wobble plate in-line piston pumps, and bent axis or angle type pumps. The technique consists in measuring the B (e.g. water) flow rate (/) through a membrane impregnated with A (e.g. isobutanol or mixtures of alcohols and water) as a function of the pressure difference AP. We have to note that it is possible to modify the method from "pressure controlled" to "flow controlled" in order to reduce the test time and increase its flexibility [126]. At a certain minimum pressure the largest pores become permeable, while the smaller pores still remain impermeable. This minimum pressure depends mainly on the type of membrane material (contact angle), type of permeate (surface tension) and pore size. When all pores are filled with B, the liquid flux / through the membrane becomes directly proportional to the pressure.

The basic unit of a force field is fhe atom type. In general, there is at least one atom type for each element, more if several chemical environments are to be considered. For example, all force fields differentiate between sp and sp hybridized carbons, assigning a distinct atom type to each. For organometallic modeling, it is frequently necessary to add new metal atom types to existing force fields. Even when fhe mefal atom types exist in the force field, fhere is seldom any differentiation based on, for example, oxidation state.f Atom types are used to classify other interactions. However, the effect of a small perturbation in action-action-angle type flows is quite different. The two-parameter family of invariant cycles coalesce into invariant tori that are connected by resonant sheets defined by the u(h,l2) = 0 condition. The consequence of this is that contrary to action-angle-angle flows in this case a trajectory can cover the whole phase space and no transport barriers exist. Thus, in this type of flows global uniform mixing can be achieved for arbitrarily small perturbations. This type of resonance induced dispersion has been demonstrated numerically in a low-Reynolds number Couette flow between two rotating spheres by Cartwright et al. 

Mechanical conveyance—for example, with angle-type bucket elevators—is only recommended for granulated products, such as those used in the rubber industry. 

The rotor is the part that turns. There are two major types, swinging bucket and fixed angle. Figure 39-15 shows an example of each type. Fixed angle types usually are used for sample sizes less than 39 mL and on the bench top models. The angle is commonly 45 ". 

The diffraction patterns originally used for this classification were of the wide-angle type. In 1936 Clark, Parker, Schaad, and Warren (54) and Wyckoff, Corey and Biscoe (217) discovered that toward the center of the collagen diffraction pattern, in a region hitherto obscured by bulky traps for the undiffracted beam, occur a number of diffractions indicating structures along the fibril axes with periods of possibly several hundred...
