Current amplifier

The magnetic scan is synchronised with the x-axis of a recorder and calibrated to appear as mass number (strictly m/e). The amplified current from the ion collector gives the relative abundance of ions on the y-axis. The signals are usually pre-processed by a computer that assigns a relative abundance of 100% to the strongest peak (base peak). [Pg.24]

To carry out amperometric or voltammetric experiments simultaneously at different electrodes in the same solution is not difficult. In principle, any number of working electrodes could be studied however, it is unlikely that more than two or three would ever be widely used in practice. The bulk of the solution can have only one controlled potential at a time (if there are significant iR drops, there will be severe control problems with multiple-electrode devices). It is necessary to use a single reference electrode to monitor the difference between this inner solution potential and the inner potential of W1 at the summing point of an operational amplifier current-to-voltage converter (this is the potential of the circuit common see OA-2 in Fig. 6.17). The potential difference between... [Pg.185]

The V/l signal amplifier current output IV/i and the TCO and offset compensation current I2 are added at the sumpoint P2 (Fig. 6.2.8). The offset compensation current is a function of VCC the TCO compensation current is a function of temperature and VCC. The circuit for TCO compensation is equivalent to the circuit of the TCS compensation. Additionally a sign bit for positive or negative gradient... [Pg.260]

A transformer ratio arm bridge (figure 2.16(c)) can also be used to solve equation (2.27). The degree of bridge unbalance (C — C2) is a function of amplifier current which may be found from equation (2.26). [Pg.42]

As show o in Hxamplc 3-1. an operaiimial amplifier current follower can give rise to minimal periurbation errors in the measurement of current. [Pg.66]

A similar derivation for the case of D.C. amplifier current measurements in any arbitrary light collecting geometry is given in Seliger (1978). [Pg.298]

CFBs can be used to reaHze inverting and noninverting amplifiers, current-to-voltage and voltage-to-current converters, and summing and differencing amplifiers. Thus, they can be utilized in a variety of active filters such as Sallen-Key active filters. However, careful stability analysis must be performed for circuits in which CFBs have reactive components in their feedback networks. For example, the usual Miller... [Pg.665]

It should be noted that the common emitter (CF) arrangement can amplify both voltage and current, but the common collector (EF) only amplifies current. The reason for the latter is that the base voltage must be higher than the emitter voltage in order for base current to flow. Therefore the emitter voltage must be low, and we can not get increased voltage. This is why common collectors are not used very often, except for buffers and a few other applications where there is a need for low output impedance (equal to output resistance, in this example). [Pg.180]
