Amp meter

Effective and well planned maintenance can reduce the operating cost of your pumps and other ec]uipment as this example demonstrates. With differential pressure gauges on the pump, an amp meter and flow meter you can determine if strict tolerance parts arc worn. This indicates the need to take the pump into the shop for corrective procedures. If you don t do it, you are wasting your annual operating budget. As we mentioned in Chapter 6, the Wear Rings should be called Efficiency Rings. Now you know why. [Pg.235]

The amp meter for a pump is best located right on the start-stop box, next to the motor. Unfortunately, more often, the only amp meter is located on the electrical breaker box. [Pg.313]

The amp meter on the motor breaker indicates the amps being pulled by the motor. Next to this meter should be a tag or a penciled number, indicating the full-limit amps (FLA) point for the motor. Above the FLA point, the motor should trip off. Operating the motor substantially above its FLA point will burn up the motor s windings. [Pg.320]

A good amp meter should be put in line to measure current, as this is crucial to control. All this electric equipment can be had at Radio Shack. [Pg.124]

When the current is measured in an electric circuit, the observation is the flow of charge for a period of time. The base unit of current, the ampere (A), is a combined unit defined as one coulomb per second 1 A = 1 C s . Devices called amp-meters (or ammeters) measure current. If a known current passes through a circuit for a known time, the charge can be easily calculated. [Pg.559]

Radiation detection circuit currents or pulse rates vary over a wide range of values. The current output of an ionization chamber may vary by 8 orders of magnitude. For example, the range may be from 10"13 amps to 10"5 amps. The most accurate method to display this range would be to utilize a linear current meter with several scales, and the capability to switch those scales. This is not practical. A single scale which covers the entire range of values is used. This scale is referred to as logarithmic. [Pg.84]

In 1994 and 1995, H-Power (Belleville, New Jersey) headed a team that built three PAFC/battery hybrid transit buses (24,25). These 9 meter (30 foot), 25 seat (with space for two wheel chairs) buses used a 50 kW fuel cell and a 100 kW, 180 amp-hour nickel cadmium battery. [Pg.40]

To prove this to yourself, find the electric circuit breaker for a fan s motor. The amp (amperage) meter on the circuit breaker will have a black needle and a red needle. The black needle indicates the actual current, or amp load. The red needle is the amperage load that will trip the motor, as a result of overamping. Over time, as the tube bundle fouls and airflow through the bundle is restricted, the black needle never moves. [Pg.166]

The experiments are generally conducted by putting the aqueous solution, or suspension, of amine, coupling component— preferably in the form of a soluble salt—and nitrite, in equi-molecular proportions, in the anode chamber, which is suitably separated from the cathode chamber by a diaphragm. Platinum is the best anode material any suitable metal can serve as cathode. The current conditions chosen may vary greatly—from 50-600 amp. per square meter of anode surface. It is very important that the anode fluid be stirred during the whole experiment. [Pg.198]

The one-meter-long conductor, based on a bismuth-strontium-calcium-copper oxide superconductor, carries over 2300 amps of direct current at liquid nitrogen temperatures (77 K). This is more than twice the current-carrying capability of conventional copper cables. [Pg.789]
