Ammonium acid formate chromium sulphate

Cr-ZSM-5 catalysts prepared by solid-state reaction from different chromium precursors (acetate, chloride, nitrate, sulphate and ammonium dichromate) were studied in the selective ammoxidation of ethylene to acetonitrile. Cr-ZSM-5 catalysts were characterized by chemical analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, FTIR (1500-400 cm 1), N2 physisorption (BET), 27A1 MAS NMR, UV-Visible spectroscopy, NH3-TPD and H2-TPR. For all samples, UV-Visible spectroscopy and H2-TPR results confirmed that both Cr(VI) ions and Cr(III) oxide coexist. TPD of ammonia showed that from the chromium incorporation, it results strong Lewis acid sites formation at the detriment of the initial Bronsted acid sites. The catalyst issued from chromium chloride showed higher activity and selectivity toward acetonitrile. This activity can be assigned to the nature of chromium species formed using this precursor. In general, C r6+ species seem to play a key role in the ammoxidation reaction but Cr203 oxide enhances the deep oxidation. [Pg.345]

Colorimetric Methods are used only for the estimation of very small percentages of vanadium, e.g. in vanadium steels and alloys. The most important depend on the intensity of the reddish-brown colour produced by the action of hydrogen peroxide on an acid vanadate solution.3 If chromium is present, an equal amount must be introduced into the standard vanadium solution under the same conditions of temperature, acid concentration, etc. Phosphoric acid is added to destroy any yellow colour due to ferric iron, and either hydrofluoric acid or ammonium fluoride to destroy any colour produced by titanium.4 A colorimetric method for the simultaneous estimation of small quantities of titanium and vanadium has also been worked out.5 Other colorimetric processes are based on (a) the formation of a yellow to black coloration, due to aniline black, in the presence of aniline hydrochloride and potassium chlorate or other oxidising agent,6 and (b) the orange coloration finally produced when an acid solution of a vanadate is brought into contact with strychnine sulphate.7... [Pg.114]

From what has been said about the influence of the cations it follows that the highest current efficiency is obtained when electrolysis is carried out with a neutral solution of ammonium sulphate. With such a solution the formation of harmful Caro s acid is almost entirely avoided. Another advantage of a neutral solution is that no diaphragm is needed to prevent the reduction of persulphate at the cathode. The addition of a small amount of alkali chromate to the solution will suppress reduction as a thin film of chromium hydroxide is formed on the cathode surface which prevents the persulphate ions coming into contact with the electrode. [Pg.396]
