Nelfinavir (Viracept) is probably the most commonly used protease inhibitor because of its low incidence of serious adverse effects. Its most common side effects are diarrhea and flatulence these may resolve with continued use. In addition to the drugs contraindicated for use with all protease inhibitors, amiodarone, rifampin, and quinidine are contraindicated in patients taking nelfinavir. [Pg.592]

Inhibitors of the CYP3A4 isoenzyme could increase systemic dofetilide exposure. Inhibitors of this isoenzyme (e.g., macrolide antibiotics, azole antifungal agents, protease inhibitors, serotonin reuptake inhibitors, amiodarone, cannabinoids, diltiazem, grapefruit juice, nefazadone, norfloxacin, quinine, and zafirlukast) should be cautiously coadministered with TIKOSYN, because they can potentially increase dofetilide levels... [Pg.267]

Delavirdine should not be used in combination with drugs that are CYP3A4 substrates such as pimozide, midazolam, triazolam, amiodarone, propafenone and ergot derivatives. Inducers of the hepatic P-450 system, rifampin, rifabutin, pheno-barbital, phenytoin or carbamazepine, should not be used in combination with delaviridine. It also increases the plasma levels of HIV protease inhibitors. [Pg.186]

AMIODARONE ANTIVIRALS Amiodarone levels may be t by protease inhibitors Uncertain, but postulated to be due to 1 metabolism of amiodarone Watch closely for amiodarone toxicity for those taking high doses of amiodarone, consider reducing the dose when starting protease inhibitor anti-HIV therapy... [Pg.12]

Reported bioanalytical applications that use SS-LLE products include both tlie cartridge (tube) format and the microplate format. Some of these applications include the determination of mexiletine [44], amiodarone [45] and other antiarrhythmic drugs [46], proxyphylline [47], 16(3-hydroxystanozolol [48], dextromethorphan [49], and simvastatin [50] from biological fluids. Microplate applications for SS-LLE include a crude purification of crude combinatorial library samples [51], carboxylic acid-based matrix metallo-protease inhibitors [52], and a p3-adrenergic receptor agonist [53]. [Pg.487]
