Air pressure drop

The maximum output efficiency must be met with the minimum of air pressure drop. [Pg.712]

The cross-flow fan generates only very slight pressure and its use is limited to appliances where the air pressure drop is low and predetermined. Its particular shape is very suitable for many kinds of air-handling devices such as fan coil units and fan convectors. [Pg.281]

Using the above exponents and pressure drop equations, the total pipeline air pressure drop and selected pressures were predicted for each Pipeline I, II and III, starting from the end of pipeline or points along the pipeline. Some of the predictions are presented in Fig. 17, from which it can be seen that the agreement between predicted and experimental values is quite good. [Pg.745]

High air-to-water volume ratios are possible due to the low air pressure drop through the tower. [Pg.245]

Icing can occur when air cools in a carburetor to below the dew point and the freezing temperature. Some of the cooling is due to the heat of vaporization of the fuel some is adiabatic cooling as the air pressure drops in the venturi (the narrow portion of the carburetor where pressure is lowest and fuel is sucked into the airstream). Note that icing can occur even when the ambient air temperature is above freezing. [Pg.405]

Seasonal variation of air pressure also presents an influence on absolute air pressure in ventilation system. It is well known that air pressure in winter is higher than that in summer (the difference of them in certain area reaches to 9500 Pa). As the air pressure drops outside the gob, the relatively higher pressure inside pushes the air to penetrate out of the gob through fragments in gob-side coal pillar. Otherwise, the air in the roadway flows into the gob. [Pg.1025]

Low-intensity or laminar flame burners (air pressure drop varies from 50-150 to 2-6 mm H2O) utilize high excess-air levels (25-60%) to provide the mixing of air with the waste fuel. These usually demonstrate low turbulence. High-intensity burners operate with combustion air pressures of (200-500 to 8-20 mm H2O). As a result, the increased turbulence resulting from the energy imparted by the air allows operation at much lower excess-air levels (0-20%). [Pg.152]

It is often worth the effort to build a stack with a lower air pressure drop so that a blower can be used. A lower pressure drop can be achieved by making the flow channels straighter, shorter, wider, and deeper. The stack may offer a slightly lower performance due to the lower air partial pressure. [Pg.186]

The fan must also meet pressure needs. Tests have shown that an 80-cell stack causes an air pressure drop of around 90 Pa. So, the fan must be able to generate 7434 L min air flow rate at 90 Pa pressure. Considering potentially higher ambient temperature (>40°C) and additional air pressure losses along its path, the fan should be able to generate an air flow rate and a pressure boost slightly higher than those two values. [Pg.203]

Figure 5.21 shows the air pressure drop of tiie stack using either dry or 80% RH air at 60°C. The pressure drop increases linearly with the air flow rate. [Pg.217]

The air pressure drop using 80% RH air was significantly higher (about 1 time more) than that using dry air. With 80% RH at °C, the total air volume entering the stack will be about 15% more than that of dry air, and this accounts for a smaller portion of the total air pressure drop. The larger portion is believed to be related to the partial blockage of the flow field channels by liquid water. Since the stack was intended to operate at a current density of less than 0.5 A cm , the air supply device had to be able to overcome around a 10 kPa pressure drop. [Pg.218]

Compare this number against the design value, then measure the amperage being drawn by the fan motors and compare this number against the design data sheet. Check the air-pressure drop across the tubes with a water manometer and compare with the design value. [Pg.405]

In lower concentrations, sulfide is a bit easier to take. It s even part of the pleasant smell of breaking waves. The ocean holds deep reservoirs of sulfur that your nose can detect, churned by microbial cycles. When the air pressure drops suddenly, these gases bubble up from water and mud. If a sudden storm is on its way, you may be able to smell more sulfur in the air. This led to an old but accurate saying ... [Pg.115]

According to our desire, the engine should work at high altitude. As altitude increases air pressure drops and this reduction has a destructive effect on engine performance. It is diflBcult to provide engine performance conditions at high altitude in a lab. So we have to use software to obtain influence of altitude on the engine. [Pg.42]

There are two main assumptions for the establishment of the model all the particles moving in suspension above the strand are at the velocity of the air all the particles moving in the strand are at the velocity of air in the strand. There is a steady-state particle exchange between the suspension flow and the strand. The suspended particles impinging the strand will slow down to the strand velocity and be expelled from the suspension. Other particles will be knocked out from the strand and accelerated by the air to the same velocity of the air in the suspension. Based on Fig. 4, the force, mass and momentum balances are set up accordingly. The pressure drop is subdivided initially into additional pressure drop and singlephase air pressure drop ... [Pg.345]
