Aging research needs

Current research needs include the development of protocols to (1) separate, quantitate, and verify the different chemical species of zinc (2) identify natural from anthropogenic sources of zinc (3) establish toxicity thresholds based on accumulation (4) evaluate the significance of tissue concentrations in target organs as indicators of zinc stress and (5) measure the long term consequences of zinc interactions with other nutrients using animals of various age and nutrient status. [Pg.726]

Researchers need to justify the need to conduct the study concerned. The need of the investigation should be weighed against the prevalence of the condition to be treated, the seriousness of the condition, the availability of alternative treatments, the novelty of the compound, uniqueness of the conditions in paediatrics, the age ranges of the children, unique safety concerns in paediatrics and the unique requirement of paediatric formulations that serve the needs of the population. [Pg.104]

As far as Western reactors are concerned, under FP-4, some thinking about a strategy for PLEM was started under the concerted action (INTACT), devoted to the integrity assessment of ageing components in general, considering both metallic and non-metallic components. The purpose of this concerted action was to provide recommendations on future research needs. [Pg.18]

Compared with xmtreated individuals, no significant association between 1ST use and IBD was observed. As it was expected there was fotmd no association with topical acne medications. In prespecified secondary analyses 1ST was associated with IBD among individuals, aged 12-29years, and topical acne medications were associated with UC. The primary analyses found no association between 1ST and IBD. In prespecified secondary analyses, some evidence was foxmd of associations with 1ST as well as topical acne medicahons, suggesting a possible association between IBD and acne itself. However, additional research needed to explore this possibihty. [Pg.217]
