In order to keep the system up-to-date with the needs of the business you will need to review the system when changes occur in the business. This review may be carried out at the same time as the management reviews described in Part 2 Chapter 1 however, as these reviews may be scheduled on a periodic basis, you should not allow the system to become outdated. The system should always reflect what you do and should remain ahead of actual practice rather than lag behind it. You should therefore integrate your system review with the business review so that changes in the business are implemented through the quality system rather than as an afterthought. [Pg.171]

Knapp (1998) has noted that there is a need to know if additional treatment costs have a downstream pay-off in system-wide cost-effectiveness. This is almost certainly the case for clozapine, but it is less clear for other drugs. Knapp (1998) argues that cost-effectiveness studies need to be part of the initial evaluative process rather than an afterthought. In this respect very new drugs may have an advantage as these calculations can be built into the current registration... [Pg.93]

Far from establishing that the defendants acted under "necessity" or "coercion," I conclude that Farben frequently sought the forced workers. In fact, the production quotas of Farben were largely fixed by Farben itself. I cannot agree with the assertion that these defendants had no other choice. In reality, the defense is an afterthought, the validity of which is belied by Farben s entire course of action. [Pg.353]

What follows can be rightly seen as a (long-delayed) afterthought to our happy Utah sojourns. [Pg.37]

Developing an isolation approach is an activity that is frequently overlooked or addressed as an afterthought. However, solubility and stability data may dictate the development of a chromatographic method that requires the elaboration of the isolation, that is, it is more complicated than a simple evaporation of the mobile phase. The development of the chromatographic process should be linked to and interactively codeveloped with the isolation. Ideally, the isolated impurity sample should not contain other compounds or artifacts, such as solvents, mobile-phase additives or particulate matter from the preparative chromatography, as they may interfere with the structure elucidation effort or adversely affect the stability of the impurity during the isolation process. Therefore, it is preferable to avoid or minimize the use of mobile-phase additives. However, should this prove to be impossible, the additive used should be easy to remove. The judicious choice of mobile phase in the HPLC process increases the ability to recover the compound of interest without or with minimum degradation. The most common... [Pg.230]

A passive radiation screen may consist of a steel plate or open-mesh screen. Use of open-mesh screen has been successful offshore on two North Sea platforms. Although the use was an afterthought after the facility was... [Pg.31]

Many individuals tend to think of validation as a stand-alone item or an afterthought at the end of the entire product/process development sequence. Some believe that the process can be considered validated if the first two or three batches of product satisfy specifications. [Pg.47]

Er, that s a scientific assessment of how extremely pretty you are, Fitz explained. The Doctor s a scientist. He talks funny sometimes, but he means well. I m Fitz. He offered his hand, then added a bow as an afterthought. Natasha looked to Aphrodite, politely curious. [Pg.145]
