During cardiopulmonary bypass, blood from the vena cava is directed to the external cardiopulmonary bypass circuit, where it is oxygenated and returned to the aorta. Thus it is essential that an external blood oxygenator (BO) should be used to oxygenate the blood. An additional circuit is required to ensure that the heart is provided with oxygenated blood. 

The differential solution adds some additional circuit complexity in the form of auxiliary feedback loops to set the common-mode voltage at the amplifier input and output [17, 18].

Neon gas at 0.1-mm. mercury pressure was circulated over a tungsten wire 18 cm. X 0.0066 cm. sealed in tube A. The tube is connected via a liquid air trap to a vacuum apparatus. The best results are obtained when a film of sodium is distilled over the inside of the tube, to act as a trap for oxygen. The whole reaction tube is normally immersed in liquid air. The filaments may be heated electrically by separate circuits, and an additional circuit allows a potential to be applied between the two wires and the associated thermionic current to be measured.

To evaluate a coating, along with / , 7 p, Cdi and W (Warburg impedance) two additional circuit elements, namely coating capacitance (C ) and resistance of coating pores (Tfpo) come into account. The presences of Cai or can be idealised by a constant slope in versus frequencies plot and peaks in 9 versus frequencies plots.

The additional circuit elements account for the effect of capacitance (Q) at the electrode-solution interface, background current (Z ), and solution resistance (R ). Figure 9.25 represents some of the results that were compared with simulated CVs obtained for an Si electrode in 1.2 mM MejCoCpjPF (redox)/1.0 M TFABF4 (supporting electrolyte) in acetonitrile in an electrochemical cell having a Pt counter electrode and at various illumination periods. As can be seen, there is an excellent agreement between simulations and experiments.

In the Avery system, the pacer transmitter unit is powered by 9-V batteries. The Mark IV transmitter has a battery indicatar light, which flashes on inspiration. The battery indicator will stop flashing as the power is reduced to a critical level, approximately 24 to 36 hours in advance of loss of transmitter output. In the latest transmitter model, there is an additional circuit that maintains transmitter output as voltage decreases, so that there is no effect on ventilation however, in older models, as battery output decreases, so does the stimulus output and consequently the ventilation. Therefore, battery maintenance must occur on a regular schedule. 

If the readouts from both of the contact pairs are lead to separate preamplifiers, brought into counterphase and lead to an addition circuit, pink noise will be removed, since it is correlated on both channels, but the signal will remain, since it exists on only one of the contacts.

When the number of students exceeds the maximum, additional cluster(s) of universities will have to be formed. Clusters could be a combination of current partners and universities from other countries, or alternatively there could be clusters solely consisting of universities from other countries. On these additional circuits it is not necessary to teach exactly the same courses. Actually emphasis should be on other fields but still under the umbrella of the European Mineral Programs. At this moment discussions are being held between L ds, Oviedo and Athens, as well as between Berlin and a number of Eastern Emopean countries. 

Microprocessor 8085 has to be supported with some additional units to form the complete computer system. However, because of the request for direct memory access, more than minimum additional circuits were added. See Fig. 9.17 for the block diagram of the CPU board.
