It was shown (Scarlata and Ors, 1986) that there was an increase in polarization of the probe molecule (a 4-amino naphthalimide derivative) during the photoinitiated cure of an acrylate-based coating formulation as the viscosity increased.

Acrylic polymers are based on free radical initiated polymers containing monomers based on acrylic acid and methacrylic acid and their esters. Such polymers often also include styrene as a monomer. Acrylic-based coatings are more resistant to ultraviolet radiation and are widely used in applications where outstanding durability and color control are required. In recent years, hybrid coating systems are also being explored to satisfy more demanding performance needs for the coatings [52].

Uniplex 512 is an effective plasticizer for coatings application, particularly in acrylic-based coatings where excellent ultraviolet light stability is required. 

Breath-ability - the humidity resident in walls and plaster must be allowed to be released otherwise blistering will result. Acrylic based coatings can be formulated to be micro-porous. 

Siloxane containing polyester, poly(alkylene oxide) and polystyrene type copolymers have been used to improve the heat resistance, lubricity and flow properties of epoxy resin powder coatings 43). Thermally stable polyester-polysiloxane segmented copolymers have been shown to improve the flow, antifriction properties and scratch resistance of acrylic based auto repair lacquers 408). Organohydroxy-terminated siloxanes are also effective internal mold release agents in polyurethane reaction injection molding processes 409). 

Early work was based on concentrating the radium from the seawater sample by adding barium and coprecipitating with barium sulfate. This concentration procedure has been replaced by one involving the extraction of radium from seawater on acrylic fibre coated with manganese dioxide [19,20] (Mn fibres). By use of this technique, volumes of 200-2000 litres may be sampled routinely. 

Microgels with an acrylic core for waterborne base coats have been reported to resist the attack of subsequent clear coats, exhibit mechanical toughness and flexibility and have a good durability and chemical resistance [347]. 

Tablets - Mesalamine tablets are coated with an acrylic-based resin that delays release of mesalamine until it reaches the terminal ileum and beyond. Approximately 28% is absorbed after oral ingestion, leaving the remainder available for topical action and excretion in the feces. Mesalamine from oral mesalamine tablets appears to be more extensively absorbed than that released from sulfasalazine.
