The structure-property relationship of graft copolymers based on an elastomeric backbone poly(ethyl acry-late)-g-polystyrene was studied by Peiffer and Rabeony [321. The copolymer was prepared by the free radical polymerization technique and, it was found that the improvement in properties depends upon factors such as the number of grafts/chain, graft molecular weight, etc. It was shown that mutually grafted copolymers produce a variety of compatibilized ternary component blends.

In this review, we have described the synthesis of hyperbranched (meth)acry-lates. We have shown that the solution and melt properties are considerably different from their Unear analogs, due to their compact, nonentangled structure. SCV(C)P has become a valuable tool in synthesis of hyperbranched polymers from vinyl monomers. Theoretical investigations help to obtain information on the molecular parameters of the resulting hyperbranched polymers which often could not be obtained experimentally. Studies on the solution and melt properties help one to understand the relationship between the properties and molecular parameters (DB,MW, distribution of branching points), which are extremely valuable from both industrial and scientific viewpoints.

Dual lifetime referencing (DLR) is another powerful technique that enables referenced measurements in case of fluorescent indicators [23]. In this method, the analyte-dependent signal from an indicator is referenced against the signal from an inert luminophore. This can be realized in both the time domain [24] and in the frequency domain [25]. Often, a luminescent reference dye is embedded into gas blocking nanobeads to avoid oxygen quenching. Polymers with very low gas permeability such as poly(acrylonitrile) [24] or poly(vinylidene chloride-co-acry-lonitrile) [26] are the best choice here.
