ACIDITY EVALUATION

Asymmetric reduction of the double bond of the dehydroamino acid residue in 522 can be effected in different ways since the peptide moiety can act as a chiral auxiliary. Heterogeneous hydrogenations using a Pd/C catalyst are the most frequently used conditions. Among the different amino acids evaluated as chiral auxiliaries, proline is the auxiliary of choice and has led to the best diastereodiffer-... [Pg.243]

The heat of adsorption of Ar was also measured for acidity evaluation. In the case of Ar-TPD, an effect of the probe molecule diffusion in micropores is observed with some samples, such as zeoUtes, at high temperature-programmed rates. The adsorption method is not influenced by diffusion of the adsorbed molecule because the Ar isotherm is measured at static equilibrium. It is also advantageous that the usual BET apparatus can be used to obtain the adsorption isotherm. In addition, the adsorption behavior of Ar is of the Henry type at temperatures around room temperature. [Pg.680]

However, metabolic alterations are observed under pathological conditions and a preferential retention of sulphur amino acids, evaluated as a urinary sulphur excretion, occurs during an inflammatory response [11-13]. Following a fracture or bums, urinary nitrogen excretion is enhanced to a greater extent than sulphur excretion [14]. Moreover, a... [Pg.104]

The acidities of [Zn)ZSM-5 and HZSM-5 are characterized by TPDA. Two peaks of NHa are observed that appearing at lower temperature (ca. 553 K, Peak-I) is attributed to NHa desorption from the weakly acidic sites while that at higher temperature (ca. 723 K, Peak-II) corresponds to the strongly acidic sites. The acidity evaluated from the area of TPDA peaks is given in... [Pg.210]

In alternative methods (29) the crude extracts were purified by epichlorohydrin triethanolamine- (ECTEOLA-) chromatography and by fractionation with CPC. In addition, repeated ethanol precipitation (1 3 water/ethanol ratio), before and after CPC (1%) HA precipitation, were reported [21]. In all the cases the product is then filtered through sterilizing filters, followed by solvent precipitation, finally HA is formulated into medical devices and pharmaceutical products. HA purified by these procedures was recovered with a yield greater than 90% with respect to the uronic acid evaluated in the starting material. [Pg.121]
